"Alias" Book Signing"

Once again we made it back safe and sound from our Viewers Voice conference at The Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel in Studio City California. I brought back some interesting interviews and stories to share with you.

Viewers Voice had a fantastic conference this year, but out of all the things we did, I was most impressed with the interview I did with Marion Ross (“Happy Days,” “Brooklyn Bridge”). This lady has accomplished so much in her career and she’s not done yet.

Viewers Voice is proud to announce the marriage of Brenda Scott Royce and Ramón Posada on July 13, 2002.  Brenda has been a Board Member for many, many years.  Her services to this organization have been invaluable.  Those of us at the annual conference have had the pleasure of meeting Ramón.  He is a gentle man who obviously adores Brenda.  We’re thrilled they have found each other and wish them a lifetime of love and happiness.

SHOWS TO WATCH FOR

We are in the middle of summer reruns with very little to watch on television, unless of course you have cable and even then the pickings are slim. This may be a good thing because it gives viewers a chance to enjoy the summer. For me it means reviewing the new fall shows and I already have been informed about a new series on the PAX network I’m real excited to see. It’s called “Sue Thomas: F.B. Eye, and will premier Sunday, October 13 from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., CST. You’re probably wondering why I’m telling you about this show so early. I think this show could be one of those that Viewers Voice would consider excellence in television entertainment: a series for the whole family and it’s never too soon to get the viewers excited about that.

Recently a reader of the TV Viewers Voice column asked me what family shows does our organization support.  From the feedback I get from our members the number one show is “State of Grace” which airs on The ABC Family Channel. The shows two young stars Alia Shawkat (Hannah) and Mae Whitman (Grace) won the Viewers Voice Award for favorite young actors/actresses cast ensemble. The series also just made our survey for Favorite New Show of the Season.

We are now in the season of television reruns of all our favorite programming, but don’t despair there are some new shows to watch, especially if you have cable. Showtime especially has some excellent original shows airing. Showtime is a premium television network, which means you pay extra to receive it, but I found it well worth it. It’s that time of year again when your favorite show may be on the bubble of extinction.

The networks are already working on what shows to keep and what ones to get rid of. Viewers Voice is sorting out thousands of e-mails and snail mail to pick out the shows our members are most concerned about losing. Now is the time we have to TAKE ACTION! Here are the shows we will be actively campaigning (Click here for Full Story)

At our Viewers Voice Convention last October I interviewed Paul Petersen from the old 50’s television series “The Donna Reed Show.” Paul is now president and founder of a non-profit organization formed to give aid and support to child actors-past, present and future. As anyone who listens to the news knows, children who have grown up in entertainment frequently have problems resulting from their involvement in the entertainment industry. Major difficulties and unfortunately even tragedies are not unknown.

Cindy Williams Interview

In January I went over to the 40th annual World of Wheels show at State Fair Park in West Allis, Wisconsin. I have no interest in cars so I wasn’t really there to observe the show. In my opinion if a car runs and gets you to where you want to go, that’s good enough for me.  (Click here for Full Story)

Sunday Brunch

Last years Viewers voice Conference took on a different agenda than what we were accustomed to because of our country going to War against terrorism. President Bush announced we started bombing Afghanistan the Sunday before we flew out to California (Click here for Full Story)

7th Heaven

Our fourth day in California, on a warm Friday, October morning we ventured over to North Shore Productions in Santa Moncia to present Stephen Collins his Viewers Voice Award for Favorite Actor in a one hour drama series. This is the third Viewers Voice Award in a row Mr. Collins has won for his role as Rev. Eric Camden on The WB family series “7Th Heaven.”  (Click here for Full Story)

State of Grace

At our Viewers Voice Conference in October we had a luncheon and awards ceremony for young actors in television. It took place at The Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel in Studio City, California. It was a warm and beautiful Saturday afternoon and the luncheon that consisted of a taco buffet was in the hotel’s garden area under a large tent.  (Click here for Full Story)

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2002 makes its premier and with that comes some new television programming. After all the reruns over the holidays it will be nice to see something beside repeats. Our regular television shows will be back with new programming and there will be some new midseason series to watch for.

The third day of our convention in Studio City, was a beautiful Thursday morning, and a few of our members went over to Sony Picture Studios on the set of “Family Law” to present the Viewers Voice Award for Favorite Supporting Actor in a Drama Series to Tony Danza. Two of our newest board members Dawn Spoto from La Verne, California and Jen Middaugh from Toledo, Ohio made the presentation.  Dawn was thrilled when Tony planted a kiss on her cheek after accepting his award.   (Click Here for Full Story)
